“Air Pollution Starts with Everyday Actions”
Everyday actions
The image shows a roadside where plastic wrappers, paper, broken bricks, and other waste have been carelessly discarded.
Although the amount of garbage appears small, its impact on the environment is much greater than it seems.
As vehicles pass by, dust mixes with the litter and rises into the air, carrying tiny particles that people inhale every day.
This increases air pollution and can lead to respiratory problems such as asthma, allergies, and other lung diseases. When waste is left there for a long time, some people choose to burn it instead of disposing of it properly.
Burning plastic and other materials releases toxic smoke, harmful gases, and fine particulate matter into the atmosphere.
These pollutants reduce air quality, contribute to climate change, and pose serious health risks, especially for children, older adults, and people with existing respiratory conditions. This photograph reminds us that air pollution is not caused only by factories, industries, or vehicle emissions.
Everyday habits, such as littering and improper waste management, also contribute significantly to the problem.
A cleaner environment begins with individual responsibility.
By using dustbins, recycling waste, and keeping public spaces clean, every person can help reduce air pollution and create a healthier, safer community for present and future generations.
