“The displacement of old vehicles by electric vehicles ensures the golden sunset for the future.”
Golden sky, Pink roads
Electric vehicles have been popular in Nepal recently after 2020 especially in the sector of four wheeler private cars and taxis.
Nepal ranks second globally in electric vehicle adoption by market share, with approximately 73% to 76% of all new passenger cars sold in the country being electric after Norway.
The price hike in the costs of petrol and diesel due to the war in the Middle east has also played a significant role in attracting new customers towards electric vehicles.
The major source of air pollution besides the main highways of Nepal is due to smoke from the vehicles which will be reduced to zero if all the vehicles on road are transformed into electric vehicles.
The government should make effective policies to increase the electric vehicle adaption not only for private transportation but also to public transportation to prevent air pollution and also to minimize the import of fossil fuel from foreign countries.
This will help to maintain the golden sky for future generations and for the economy of the nation as well.
