“The Industrial Emission created its own Shield around Cement Factory”
Industrial Shield
This image is captures Siddhartha Cement Factory in Bhairahawa.
There are more than 5 cement factories, few bricks factories, paper factories and other factories in Lumbini-Bhairahawa Corridor.
This is kind of a industrial hub but contradicting to prevailing laws.
This unofficial industrial zone is not isolated, rather there is residential area as well.
As seen in the picture, there are houses and field as well.
Even though the grass is green, but the air is so polluted that few meters away, the factory is not seen clearly. The industrial emissions has polluted air so badly that it looks like a protective shield of haze around the factory.
The haze compounding of dust, cement particals, harmful gases etc has created a thin layer around the factories.
This industrial emission has been a serious matter of concern for locals there.
According to locals, they have to close windows and doors, and cover everything at the evening, due to emission from cement factories.
The cement particals and other substances spreads and covers everything, making impossible to stay outdoor in the evening.
The AQI of Bhairahawa is 169 at day time which increases with a hike in evening according to locals. According to IQAir, the main pollutant is PM2.5 which is 50.2 µg/m³ currently (17 June, 12:45 PM) in Bhairahawa.
This level of pollution effects humans, animals, harvesting and wildlife very negatively.
