Mountains Faded From Terai
ManMaya Thapa who has been living in Bhairahawa for around 56 years clearly remembers watching mountains mainly Machhapuchhre and Annapurna from the terrace of her house around 10 years ago in the month of Baisakh and Ashoj.
On clean sunny days the sky was clear, unlocking the view of mountains that are situated more than 200 kilometers away from her.
Nowadays the days are getting hotter with clear sunshine but mountains aren’t seen due to the haze and pollution in the air.
She is worried about the future and shared the stories of low visibility in Terai during the winters as well.
