One Fire, A Thousand Breaths
I took this photo of what many people would probably walk past without noticing: a small pile of waste being burned.
At first, it looked like an ordinary scene, just smoke rising and disappearing into the air.
But standing there made me think about how easily we normalize these moments.
We often see burning waste as a quick solution, without thinking about where that smoke actually goes. “One Fire, A Thousand Breaths” felt fitting because the impact of one small act never stays in one place.
The smoke does not just stop where the flames end; it travels into the same air that all of us breathe.
Looking at this reminded me that the environment is something we all share, and so are the consequences of the choices we make every day.
