“My Nose vs. Kathmandu's Pollution”
Sick because of Pollution
This might sound unconvincing, but it is true that I am very sensitive to air pollution.
I easily get a cold, cough, or a runny nose if I travel around Kathmandu without wearing a mask. When I return to my hometown, I rarely wear a mask and hardly experience these problems.
However, in Kathmandu, the level of pollution shown in the picture above is enough to make me sick.
Even now, I have been suffering from a runny nose and cough, which I believe are linked to the polluted air in the city. I don't think this is just my story.
Many people experience similar symptoms when they spend time outdoors in Kathmandu without wearing a mask.
We often ignore it as a normal cold, but perhaps it is our bodies reacting to the air we breathe every day.
