Inside the premise of Butwal Multiple Campus, we see smoke from burning fallen leaves

Rupandehi, Lumbini ProvinceJul 2026

Simple to learn, hard to do

One of the biggest affiliated colleges of Tribhuvan University from western Nepal, Butwal Multiple Campus where around 5000 students study in undergraduate and graduate level was filled with smoke in early morning classes.

When I started to explore the source of the smoke, I found it was from the burning of the dried leaves of a tree inside the college premises.

Students were out in the playground, classes but were compelled to breathe smoke.

I went out towards the administrative building to ask about the fire but cannot find anyone to talk about this.

If the colleges where students are taught about environmental conservation, air pollution and its effect and the importance of clean air are seen with this kind of activity that leads to the pollution, we cannot expect our society to evolve and implement the education that is taught in institutions.
