“Getting Slowly Poisoned While Making a Living”
Slowly Dying While Breathing
There are more stories on the streets than we know.
This time, it is the story of a common man who is earning his bread and roti while getting poisoned on the streets of Lalitpur. He was one of the laborers working in the middle of the Ring Road highway.
His team was constructing pillars for electricity.
When I was returning to my office from my lunch break, I noticed him.
He seemed unhealthy but hardworking. When I asked him how long it had been since he started wearing a mask, he said it had been 17 days continuously.
Though he wears a mask, he is still sick and cannot do anything about it.
The polluted air around him has become the regular air he breathes, slowly poisoning him. This is just one person who represents all the laborers working on the streets.
