Sometimes the things that doesn't get our eyesight can have a meaningful impact we choose to ignore.

Butwal, Rupandehi, Lumbini ProvinceMay 2026

Unnoticed yet Impactful

Inside the hotel premises, where we had our workshop about clean air and air pollution, I noticed that the chimney of the kitchen is placed in very strategic location.

The gases like CO2 and other air pollutants that are emitted while cooking can be absorbed by the greenery of the very same Hotel.

This will eventually help the hotel to reduce their carbon footprint in the world.

Green plants are major absorber of CO2 and other pollutants and approximately 4.5 million ton of C02 is absorbed every year by the forests of Nepal.

I doubt whether this is intentional or not but the placement of chimney in low height and surrounding it with green plants can help reduce the pollution caused by kitchens and small industries rather than making tall chimneys and exposing the gases directly into the atmosphere.
